Recently I attended a course in Christchurch, a course that I was sceptical about attending at first. A good friend of mine had promised it would make a difference in my life, improve my ability to communicate with people, my ability to build report quicker and my ability to change something Tony Robins called “state”.

As I said I was a little unsure about what I would learn for 2 days but right from the start I was amazed!

It’s all good attending a course but what about the outcomes, not just in the two days following the course but in the long run? Well for me the changes have been impressive.

I was able to build rapport with several new business clients in a much faster time than usual, using the skills from the course.

I have narrowed down my list of goals to just 2 (those who know me understand I am always moving from one thing to the next and not getting much completed and final)

I put in place and took action on the first steps towards achieving my goals, I now have a clear pathway

I put in place some “Anchors” that allow my to feel calm before a meeting, normally I would have been nervous and uptight, now I feel relaxed and confident. These “anchors” will be built on over time and strengthened.

Anchors

I have talked a lot about anchors throughout this page and many of you will be wondering what it’s all about.

Basically its a physical action the generates an emotion or feeling within you. As an example Steve Gurney used anchors during is Coast To Coast multi-sport events. As Steve said to us during the course “I’m bow legged and short, not the best athlete” but Steve used anchors to summon extra strength when needed and increased calm at other times.

I now use these anchors every time I need to relax when I’m nervous. Within 5 seconds I can feel a change, I feel more relaxed and calm. Now you might say, “that’s crap, its not possible” If you listen to the testimonials of those on this page you will see its no BS, it works and can add a lot to your performance in the sports field or in the boardroom.
